The CDC reports Louisiana in the first case of AFM in 2018







For the first time in 2018, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Louisiana, United States, Myelitis flácido acudo) is confirming a case. Rare medical illnesses have been described as "polio-like disease" by medical experts, according to WAFB television reports.

  • Symptoms: loss of weakness and muscle tone, reflexes in the arms or legs, facial or weakness, difficulty in moving eyes, eyelids, headache, difficulty, and weakness

AFM 116 cases have been confirmed this year throughout the United States.
