A car crashed into a list of restaurants in Caloundra, Sunshine Coast, Queensland, while the driver lost control when he was making a burn.

The accident happened at Seaview Terrace on Moffat beach at 5pm when the vehicle was ending up on one side and running to help people.

A 52-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman who were eating at Moffat Beach Brewing Co. were taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said the couple was in stable condition.

The video footage shows a vehicle smoking before the accident.

Police said they arrested a 44-year-old man who was allegedly driving the car.

The bar manager at Moffat Beach Brewing Co., Timothy White, said there were about 20-30 people sitting in the restaurant’s outdoor dining room at the time.

Mr. White said he lost the traffic that protected the car and crashed directly in front of the restaurant.

“He hit the gutter bolts and then threw them aside,” he said.

“They threw two of our customers at the restaurant and I think they had minor injuries, but all the others were fine after that, and that was appreciated.”

‘I heard this massive slip’

He said the dining room outside the restaurant was full when the accident happened.

“We had the whole patio outside. Everyone was having a few beers and the weather was beautiful,” he said.

“There was a formal one on the beach and probably hundreds of great kids came out to graduate, all dressed up and leaving a pile of nice looking and nice looking cars.

“There was a lot of backup on the Seaview terrace and I went out for a walk in front of the restaurant and heard this massive slip.”

He said everyone in the car was fine.

“Of course, they were all revealed later on the scene – they were all pretty shaken up but there were no injuries suffered by these boys,” he said.

Mr. White said the business needed to be closed to deal with the situation, but hopes to reopen it tomorrow morning.

He said the city’s bollards helped prevent much worse injuries.

“There are bollards with chains on them [council] the road and that and the ditches took the initial impact from the car, ”he said.

“These two things managed – instead of letting the car into the restaurant – to finish the car and leave it behind.
