Rajshahi
The Rajshahi metropolitan Awami League has held a procession and protest rally against the demolition of the sculpture of the Father of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Nation. The protest rally was held at the Kumarpa party office on Sunday evening. At the end of the rally, a protest procession came out of the party office. The parade returned to the party office after circumnavigating major city roads.
Speaking on the occasion, AHM Khairuzzaman Liton Rajshahi Metropolitan Awami League president and Rajshahi City Corporation (Rasik) mayor said: “Father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Nation’s name cannot be erased from the hearts of Bengalis by breaking the sculpture. It is an insult against ideals and conscience. Anti-independence activists are outraged when they hear the names Bangabandhu, Liberation War and Awami League. The foolish party does not know that Bangabandhu is in the heart of millions of people, how can it be broken? ‘
Dablu Sarkar, secretary general of the metropolitan Awami League, said in a statement that “radical militant groups want to create an unstable environment in the country with the support of Tarique Rahman and Jamaat-BNP.” Their wrongdoing will never be carried out on the land of Bengal.
Awami League Metropolitan Rajshahi President Shaheen Akhter Reni and Ahsanul Haque Pintu joint secretary also spoke at the rally.
Gopalganj
The BCL has held a protest procession at the Gopalganj district headquarters to denounce the vandalism of the sculpture under the construction of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rajman Nation’s Father and demand justice for the perpetrators. BCL leaders and activists staged a protest procession on Sunday evening from the premises of the Government’s Bangabandhu University. The procession circled the main roads of the city and ended at the local Chowrangi premises. A rally was later held there. Spokesmen for the demonstration demanded an exemplary punishment for the arrest of those involved in the vandalism.
On the other hand, Awami League leaders and activists and allied organizations have also staged demonstrations in Manobbandhan, Tungipara and Kotalipara in Muksudpur.
Moulvibazar
The Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila Awami League and the District Juba League have organized protests and demonstrations against the demolition of the sculpture. The parade was organized by the Sadar Upazila Awami League on Sunday evening. Led by the president of the Awami League district and its deputy Neshar Ahmed, the procession took place in front of a portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the Shaheed Minar area and ended in the Kusumbagh area after circling several roads in the city.

The Awami League district has held a protest rally in Nilphamari to demand the immediate demolition of the sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Nation’s Father and the immediate arrest of those involved. At 4pm on Sunday a procession took place in front of the party office and after circling several roads in the city, a protest rally was held at the Chowrangi junction.
Sadar Upazila Awami League president Abuzar Rahman presided over the rally. District Awami League General Secretary Mamtazul Haque, District Krishka League President Akshay Kumar Roy, Sadar Upazila Awami League General Secretary Wadud Rahman, Municipal Awami League President Mosfiqul Islam and others spoke.
Meanwhile, the Domar Upazila Awami League held a protest procession and assembly in the afternoon. Upazila Parishad president and Awami League general secretary Tofail Ahmed, former Alhaj Karimul general secretary, Bir Muktijoddha Ilias Hossain, Bir Muktijoddha Golam Mostafa, Municipal Awami League general secretary Moinul Haque Manu, Upazila Swechchhasebak were league president and Upazul Parishad Malek etab.
Brahmanbaria
District Awami League leaders and activists and their members have held a procession and protested against the demolition of the sculpture. A protest procession led by MP Awami League President RM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury and General Secretary Al Mamun Sarkar left the city of Dhirendranath Dutta Bhasha Chattar on Sunday at around 4.30pm. The procession circled the city’s main road and ended at the Loknath Tank bank. Leaders and activists from the local Awami League, Chhatra League, Juba League, Mahila League and Swechchhasebak League took part in the procession.
Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury said he was the main guest of the pre-protest demonstration: “Those who fought against independence in 1971, those who cooperated and supported Pakistanis, now have their children against sculpture.”
Islamic University (IU), Kushtia
Human chains, demonstrations and protest rallies have been held at the Islamic University (UI) to demand punishment for those involved in the vandalism of sculpture. The leaders and activists of the organization of progressive teachers of the Shapla Forum and its branch Chhatra League held a program on campus on Sunday.
BCL leaders Shishir Islam Babu, Taukir Mahfuz Masud, Mizanur Rahman Lalon, Bipul Khan, Ferdousur Rahman Sohag and about 50 other leaders and activists attended the rally.
Meanwhile, progressive university professors held a human chain at the feet of the dead Mujibe, under the Shapla Forum flag, at 1 p.m. Manabbandhane Vice Chancellor Prof. Shahinur Rahman, President of the Teachers Association, Prof. Kazi Akhter Hossain, President of the Shapla Forum Prof. Rezwanul Islam, General Secretary Prof. Teachers from different departments included Mahbubur Rahman.
Benapole, Jessore
Demonstration processions and protest rallies have been held throughout Sharsha Upazila, including Benapole, to denounce the demolition of the sculpture. Alhaj Nuruzzaman Sharsha Upazila Awami League General Secretary led the Benapol protest process and protest rally in the evening.
At 4pm, the procession went from the Awami League office to various routes in the port city of Benapole. Later, a protest rally was held in front of the party office. Upazila Awami League leaders and activists led the protest rally.
Magura

A human chain and demonstration rally were held in Hili, Dinajpur. The Muktiyuddha Mancha Hakimpur Upazila Office organized an hour-long human chain program on the road in front of Banglahili Pilot School and College at 3.30pm. Demonstration rallies were held at the end of the human chain.
Vice President Asaduzzaman, General Secretary Asad Hossain, Joint Secretary General Muhith Ahmed, Organizing Secretary Abu Taleb, Liberation War Secretary Masum Ali, Student Secretary Samaira Chowdhury and many others have spoken at the meeting of Muktijuddha Mancha Hakimpur Upazila branch President Musaddiq Hossain.
Thakurgaon
The BCL district has organized a torchlight procession in Thakurgao to protest against the vandalism of the sculpture and to demand an exemplary punishment for those involved. The procession of the torch left the party office at the crossroads of the city on Sunday evening. The procession goes around the main roads of the city and ends at a crossroads. Later, BCL District President Mahabub Hossain Rony and General Secretary Sanwar Parvez Pula held a brief meeting.
Gazipur
Gazipur was present throughout the day with gatherings and processions on Sunday, against the vandalism of the sculpture. Protest processions and rallies have been held in different parts of the district at the initiative of various organizations, including the Awami League and its affiliates. In the afternoon, the protest procession of the Gazipur metropolitan branch of the National Labor League left the Awami League office. The parade surrounded the various streets of the city and ended in front of the party office and ended with a short rally.
Meanwhile, the Awami Juba League organized various demonstrations at Bhawal Badre Alam Government College and Board Bazar in Chandna Chowrasta area, District Chhatra League in downtown, Jahangir Alam Education Foundation, Pubail Thana Awami League in Mirer Bazar area and Chhatra League Dhaka Engineering and Technology Protest rallies were held at the University (DUET).
These programs included Mahanagar Juba League Director Kamrul Ahsan Sarkar Russell, Halim Mandal, Nahid Moral and other leaders.
