In Canada, 40% of the population suffers at least one insomnia symptom, according to Canadian Statistics. There are 3.5 million Canadian Sleep Departments that help sleep disorders. In France 10 million people use sleeping tablets.
If many people have drugs, some side effects of benzodiazepine sleeping pills, such as valium, can be harmful.
Benzodiazepine stimulates GABA-A brain straddles, which are aimed at the brain, but also reduce the non-brain activity. […]
The incidence of brain events that are commonly used in patients is evidence of the risk of benzodiazepines. For example, a Franco-American research has recently shown that many users would not wake up a fire alarm.
Another safe solution
Japanese scientists are looking for other drugs with less side effects. The molecule obtained by the group is an antagonist receptor of the double stroke (ADRO).
They would direct the mechanisms involved in co-operation.
Did you know?
Benzodiazepines suddenly suffer from withdrawal symptoms, such as anxiety and insomnia.
Try sleeping rodents
The team demonstrated ADRO in the mouse, including placebo and triazolam, a benzodiazepine sleeping pill. According to the results of the study, sleeping mice, ADRO or triazolam, are beneficial for long and deep sleep. "From 30% to 40%" was longer than in untreated mice, says Professor Kuwaki.
Tomoyuki Kuwaki and his colleagues caused a moody mouse-struck stimulation. For example, the smell of a wallet or a acute sound that was similar to a dog was used.
The team under the ADRO effect woke up faster than triazolam. He also slept in the same group faster than a placebo.
The group says ADRO is therefore a promising class of sleeping pills. But human tests will be necessary before going to a drug.
The results of the work are published in the journal Neuroscience Behavioral Fronts (New Window).
