The CRTC has just published the 2018 Communications Monitoring Report and, once again, the use of wireless data in Canada has decreased with respect to subscribers in most OECD countries. Michael GeistIt is the result of non-competitive Canadian wireless sectors.
Looking at the latest CRTC data, it is clear that prices have a high impact on the use of the data, the price of the three largest carriers in Canada is much higher compared to other countries.
Additionally, excess charges are another important source of wireless consumer electronics, the CRTC, with income from more than $ 1,200 million in mobile data per year.
As Geist writes:
Unfortunately, Canadian consumers continue to be the worst of both worlds: they use less data per month for more than a million dollars in more than OECD countries. The Navtspepper Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, the CRTC report says, "steps in the right direction" have not brought significant changes, which means that the government's wireless policy needs to be refreshed.
