ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Center for Disease Control and Prevention affirms 31 cases of polio-illness like New Mexico cases.
CDC has confirmed 116 cases of acellar flácid myelitis (or AFM) in the United States this year. This is the last 10 weeks.
Almost all children confirmed that they had a viral illness before a week before the start of paralysis.
It is unclear whether there is a greater risk for AFM in states with a greater number of cases, or better to identify and report these cases.
