Three weeks ago, in an Island Health Year vaccine campaign, the amount of the vaccine distributed between pharmacists and physicians was compared to the same period of 2017.
235,984 doses were sent to healthcare professionals, with a total of more than 10,000 doses during the last three months, totaling 225,621. This is the rising trend of people getting the vaccine.
"We always offer a little more than a year," said Dr. Dee Hoyano, Healthcare Healthcare Medical Officer.
The total number of doses for the 2017-18 flu season exceeded 275,000.
Island Health also boosted public health nurses' number of immunized adults and the number of children in three-week brands – 10,280 last year 10,266 last year.
There has also been time to kick off the season's best season, Hoyano said.
"Ideally, all those who are going to vaccinate should do it in the next few weeks before joining in, usually while they are on the flu activity," he said.
The cases of influenza from 2017-18 were opened in April, but Hoyano is said to be between January and March.
Health officials are expected to see how the 2018-19 flu is going to be a severe season and what tensions dominate. During this season, the vaccine covers two voltages A and B voltages. Like most seasons, it is expected to be effective at 40-60 percent.
"Right now, the results of the flu show that most are influenced by A, H1N1 voltage," said Hoyano.
Hoyano said he had filmed a few weeks ago. "It reduces the risk of getting a flu and it also happens to others," he said.
Flu shots cost $ 25, but children 6 and 10 years old, over 65 years of age, and those with heart disease, cancer and other conditions are at high risk of having flu complications.
In Canada there were 3,500 deaths in the flu and 12,200 hospitals.
A free vaccine is available at public health clinics, doctor's offices and most pharmacies.
Those who do not have a free vaccine can not buy at most pharmaceutical and travel clinics.
