New Year in Toronto: what is open, what is closed and what happens

Here's what's happening next year on New Year's Eve 2018 and what's open and closed New Year Day.

New Year's Eve events:

New Year's Eve at Nathan Phillips Square

The free event will be from 8:00 p.m. midnight and DJ skating, live music performances and fireworks.

ROM New Year's Eve celebration

ROM will organize a special dinner, including dance, live band, and a midnight snack.

Las Vegastone New Year's Eve Bash

The Gladstone Hotel is organizing a theme-themed celebration in the new year. The event will begin at 9:00 p.m.

Open / closed:

New Year's Eve:

  • LCBO closes at 6:00 p.m. (or 8 hours in places)

  • Beer Store: Close by 6 months

  • TTC works on Sunday, and travelers can walk for free at 7:00 p.m. Until 7 in New Year's Goodbye

  • GO Transit offers free rides at 7:00 p.m. The New Year's Eve and the last train leaves the Union Station at 3:23 PM.

New Year's Day:

  • Open tourist attractions, including AGO, Casa Loma, CN Tower, ROM, Toronto Zoo

  • Some commercials are open CF Toronto Eaton Center, Square One and CF Vaughan Mills

  • The majority of them are closed in banks and pubs

  • Many restaurants are open

  • GO Transit operates on holiday schedule
