Ubisoft has revealed the first year's content for the upcoming Tom Clancy's The Division 2. In a new trailer for the game, the company revealed that all content will be free, but players who buy the Gold or Ultimate editions of the game will get the Year 1 pass. The pass will come with cosmetic bonuses and early access to the new content, and go on sale as a standalone purchase when Ubisoft releases The Division 2 on March 15.
After release, The Division 2 will get an update called Tidal Basin. This update houses a new Stronghold for Players to invade and is set in a harbor around Washington, D.C.'s Tidal Basin National Park.
Operation Dark Hours will launch after Tidal Basin. This will be The Division 2'S first raid, and requires eight people to complete. It's unclear how raids will work in The Division 2, outside of requiring "team play and coordination." But raids were the biggest announcement at last year's E3 and have been a fan-requested feature since The Division.
After the release of the raid, The Division 2'S episodes will begin. In summer of 2019, Episode 1: D.C. Outskirts: Expeditions will launch. This update will bring a new area to The Division 2, set in the overgrown outskirts of D.C. Like all episodes, it will bring new narrative missions as well as new gameplay modes. D.C. Outskirts: Expeditions will also add an untitled game mode where players investigate lost convoy.
Episode 2 is Pentagon: The Last Castle and is out tthis fall. This will add new narrative missions, as well as to where Division Agents explore the secrets of the Pentagon. Ubisoft has not yet revealed Episode 3's name, but it'll conclude the first part of The Division 2Storyline
In addition to new story content and game modes, Ubisoft will add three new specializations over the next year. These specializations are new, end-game classes that players can switch between – each offering a new skill tree and exclusive weapon.
Ubisoft has not disclosed any details about the three new specializations. The game's current specializations are Survivalist (explosive crossbow / stealth), Demolitionist (grenade launcher / explosions), Sharpshooter (50 caliper sniper rifle / long range).
Players can expect an in-game store, where they can buy cosmetic items on their characters. After launch, Ubisoft will add Apparel Caches to the game. These loot boxes will only include cosmetics, and will not offer crafting materials, weapons, or gear items.
The exact release dates for any of these features are still unclear, but Division players will certainly have a lot on their plate starting on March 15 and lasting through at least the end of 2019.
