Q: What idea was this project?

O.S .: Darío and Daniel, the other two major authors, watched a documentary with Lil Bub, and they were: "This is very interesting. What can Bubek look like? Can we find genetics behind?" So they had a scientific idea, but I knew it could be difficult to finance. Because I had a blogging background, because Bub is so popular, we thought we tried crowdfunding.

L.L .: Good or bad, celebrities are attracted to attention, whether famous or celebrated animals. We tried other celebrities to jump on the board before boarding, but Lil Bub was the bravest of all of them.

G: How did you get the owners of Lil Buben?

O.S .: Daniel and Dario Mike, the owner of Bub, and everything related to Bub was very open and incredibly brilliant. It's not a scientist, so we kept up the process and looked for everything we wanted and why it was interesting.

Q: Did you find out about the findings?

L.L .: Initially, if you're thinking about polydactyly Lil Bubble and your body crumbs are part of the same syndrome. If you look at genetic information in cats and dogs, a particular mutation can be found in cats all the time, and they fit well, so it is probably a benign mutation.

Q: What's next to your job?

O.S .: When you refer to a cats project sponsored by the judge, people do not necessarily have to take science, but it is a serious scientific project. It would be great to get published. That's partly because we took it out in bioRxiv, to get some peer reviews, though there was nothing really obvious.

Also, because we have put it in the public domain, we hope that anyone who is interested can see what they can do and see where they can. We have seen a lot of tweets for teachers, who plan to use them in classrooms. We are in hope of taking on one's life.

L.L .: I hope that it shows the importance of financing the cat's research. Here's something previously funded: they got to go to the people to get financing and there was a very important biological effect. In the end, it's not a gimmick. We have had to play good science in the world of cats.
