Cats can regulate the Internet, but little felines have earned Lil Bub's reputation. In Bloomington, Indiana (2011) was found to have a native kitten, birth defects had a series: extra fingers, shorter body motions, and a lingering lingering mouth. Mike Bridavsky and Lil Bub loved these millions of Internet fanatics.
Over the years, Lil Bub has been a loudspeaker for animal shelters to help their siblings find their homes. Now, scientists also help. This week, through a profit multimedia profit of more than $ 8,000, the Experiment.com-geneticist led by Darío Lupiáñez at the Max-Delbrück Molecular Medicine Center in Berlin; Daniel Ibrahim, Molecular Genetics Institute of the Max Planck Institute of Berlin; and the Philistine of Orsolya Symmons of the University of Pennsylvania sequenced the complete genome of Lil Bub.
Researchers have found two abnormal genetic contrasts, reported on the bioRxiv preacher's server. Lil Bubbe observes some extra toes in a somewhat common genetic variant Sonic hedgehog The genes are also in charge of famous Ernest Hemingway polidactyl kittens, and the six-year-old progenitor is still remembered at home in Key West, Florida. Another key gene was amazing: variation TNFRSF11AMice and humans know that a gene called osteopetrosis is called a strange condition, because it causes dense and short bones.
Earlier press conferences have been carefully surveyed by some scientists, with a tweeting, "I was not very jealous my PhD project," and another writing, "I expect to participate in Internet Catsen Computational Genomics at Keystone Conference."

Q: What idea was this project?
O.S .: Darío and Daniel, the other two major authors, watched a documentary with Lil Bub, and they were: "This is very interesting. What can Bubek look like? Can we find genetics behind?" So they had a scientific idea, but I knew it could be difficult to finance. Because I had a blogging background, because Bub is so popular, we thought we tried crowdfunding.
L.L .: Good or bad, celebrities are attracted to attention, whether famous or celebrated animals. We tried other celebrities to jump on the board before boarding, but Lil Bub was the bravest of all of them.
G: How did you get the owners of Lil Buben?
O.S .: Daniel and Dario Mike, the owner of Bub, and everything related to Bub was very open and incredibly brilliant. It's not a scientist, so we kept up the process and looked for everything we wanted and why it was interesting.
Q: Did you find out about the findings?
L.L .: Initially, if you're thinking about polydactyly Lil Bubble and your body crumbs are part of the same syndrome. Then you start to supervise and you realize, no Sonic hedgehog Mutations are unrelated to the mutations that occur with osteoporosis. I liked it, "Wow, it's kind of strange, cats have two strange mutations."
Why is this discovery important?
O.S .: Nobody ever chose genetic osteophtheria in chains, but there are similar mutations in mouse genes and osteophthrocyte humans.
L.L .: Humans can also have this illness and find out how the mutation function works, the adaptive therapy of precision medicine that causes the genes.
It also shows that it is important for animal genetics. In human genetics, there is still a large number of unknown meanings, which means, basically, you do not know whether it is benign or not. That is the thing that is trying to do the project. If you look at genetic information in cats and dogs, a particular mutation can be found in cats all the time, and they fit well, so it is probably a benign mutation.
Q: What's next to your job?
O.S .: When you refer to a cats project sponsored by the judge, people do not necessarily have to take science, but it is a serious scientific project. It would be great to get published. That's partly because we took it out in bioRxiv, to get some peer reviews, though there was nothing really obvious.
Also, because we have put it in the public domain, we hope that anyone who is interested can see what they can do and see where they can. We have seen a lot of tweets for teachers, who plan to use them in classrooms. We are in hope of taking on one's life.
L.L .: I hope that it shows the importance of financing the cat's research. Here's something previously funded: they got to go to the people to get financing and there was a very important biological effect. In the end, it's not a gimmick. We have had to play good science in the world of cats.
