Abandoned in the hospital, Stefano deserved a better ending

It’s been a month since the death of Stefano D’Orazio, drummer Poohs and author of many lyrics sung by Roby Facchinetti, due to complications from Covid-19. In fact, the virus helped him fight in his small way thanks to the collection of the film “Rinascerò, reborn”, a song co-written with Facchinetti, which received more than 15 million views and went to the hospital in Bergara. . However, a few months later, D’Orazio failed to recover from the positivity, and the biggest pain, Facchinetti told Fanpage, is that only his friend has disappeared and even his loved ones have not been able to say their last goodbyes.

This is one of the thoughts that Facchinetti’s head has been concerned about for weeks, as he has had the opportunity to collaborate artistically with D’Orazio in recent years and almost the last few days. “Rebirth, reborn” is perhaps the most popular of the projects they have worked on, but they have been writing the opera “Parsifal” for two and a half years and D’Orazio has written some unreleased songs from Facchinetti’s latest album “Chasing my”. music “, including” Invisibili “, the latest single released. It’s not easy to promote this song, but the goalkeepers would like to explain how key D’Orazio is, how long his words and music will last and how sensitive his friend was to dealing with sensitive issues to do. + old age, loneliness, and even death.

Hi Roby, I’m wondering how you’re doing, it’s been so stupid since Stefano D’Orazio died

Stefano’s death was a very severe blow to all; then think that I lived a few hours before I was hospitalized. In recent years we have done music projects, we have written the opera Parsifal, we have done “Rinascerò rinascerai”, three others unpublished; so that his presence has been so strong, it is clear that he is no longer accustomed to being. it is not easy.

You always emphasize your relationship, you also read the text Invisible; then there are issues that have become very current today.

There are some predictions that almost, of course, they don’t know: think “I swear you’ll leave me behind”.

I also think of “old photos hanging on the walls to paint, those friends who are no longer there”. I don’t know when he wrote Negrini when he mentioned it.

No, no, in general, this song is a perfect picture of the lives of two people who were lucky enough to grow old together, because that is already a great wealth. The couple, friends of life are even more so when they are married, they are also far away from their children, but aging together is a great wealth. Only, you know, it’s now become a real social problem because there are a lot of older people who are abandoning their children, and that’s unforgivable.

We are often accustomed to texts that can’t tell too much about pain, Invisibili’s is very hard, not only about old age and past time, but also about death.

It’s not an idea like any other, it talks about a real social problem and then you think about this damn virus that affects older people, only a few, abandoned in nursing homes. Instead, grandparents are an important heritage, they tend to be the best parents in the world, very different from past generations, they are a resource and I think that’s also really important and we tend to make that invisible. . But institutions for this generation also pay little attention. Stefano had this idea, something that is part of his way of being, of his generosity, because it is an act of generosity to have the sensitivity to talk about this social problem.

Do you remember how the idea for the song came about?

Look, we almost always work like this, usually music is born first, then the text: I wrote this melody and I made this harmony for Stefani and then a little later – Stefano was a very imaginative artist – – seeing that things came to him instinctively, he gave the text zidan. It also happened with “I will be born again, you will be born”. He called me and read the text on the phone and we were both excited to read it and we both listened to this heartfelt text, treated with great poetry and sensitivity. Then when I sang you can imagine the emotion, my throat closed, thinking about this world, their world, there are exciting phrases.

I imagine that today, looking back, the emotion is even greater.

Look, I’m telling you to listen to these songs, especially the latest stuff by Stefano, and I’m talking about things from two months ago, that they all have a completely different weight, because you get a deep combined meaning that no longer exists: I live some sentences as if they were previous, and that it is painful.

How do you handle unreleased songs, Parsifal …?

I talked to myself and Parsifal, who have been working for more than two and a half years, especially about this mythological character in our history: Stefan did something extraordinary and when he worked at Parsifal you know how many times we have told ourselves, especially the way we wanted things to be, that’s really our testament, what more can we do than that? This gives me a double responsibility and I repeat, I have already started to put things back on Parsifal: we interrupted everything on stage for Covid and reconnected all the contacts we have had for ten days because my goal was to bring him to the stage for him, me and because it’s really worth it. Inside is everything that should be beautiful in a work of this type.

Did you sing about Covid’s pain, did you raise funds to deal with it, did you feel fear in Stefano, or did you think that basically that couldn’t happen to you either?

Absolutely not, because I was constantly talking from Bergamo and even more so everything happened here at the time, so I was the first to understand the severity of this virus, how dangerous it was and what its ability to infect: my family has lost a lot of people, including relatives , friends, acquaintances, people who worked for me. In short, I saw that danger, that horror on my face, and I was constantly talking to Stefan about what was going on here. Unfortunately not always with this awareness, in some cases full attention is not enough and this makes you understand that it is really dangerous.

Do you have Stefano’s words with you?

You know, the last word, the last sentence, I heard to tell you about our stuff and he told me that he had picked up a swab and sadly had coronaviruses: “But don’t worry because everything else is fine” he said to me and that’s one of the words that strikes me in the head. And it strikes me in his head that he wrote “We were born to fight fate, but always every time we win” (“I will be reborn, you will be born,” ed.) And this phrase is a stab in the heart. Another phrase that strikes me is “When it’s all over we’ll be back to see the stars,” which I also experience as a previous phrase and now I imagine it there, among the stars.

It’s been a month since you died, which one did you think of or have been your friends the most?

Another thing that hurts me is clearly that we hope that our loved ones will go as far as possible, but we can’t do much, but unfortunately. Stefano left when he was 62, too early, he still had a lot to say and do, but the last days of his life were there, abandoned in the hospital, I think in some sort of despair, because he understood. that he was very well without anyone. If you end your life like this, I find it terribly inhuman, no one deserves an end like this, that calvary, to end your life like that. Stefano deserved a better ending.

Extra pain for all of you.

These things hurt, you feel, you don’t accept them, you tell them that this is not possible, there is no mother, a wife, a child within our human boundaries that cannot give a final greeting. So those who live through this tragedy, like Titian, whose father also died shortly after, are unacceptable. I think if Titian – but it’s a little bit for everyone – had been able to see him at the last farewell, even behind a glass, he wouldn’t have hurt anyone. A place could be arranged, a very safe room, with a suit, of course it would not change the state of things, but you deal with that pain in addition to the pain.
