For more than seven months, under the direction of the Department of Health and the Rector of the UAT, medical students have been unable to do internships at the entity’s clinics and hospitals. Pedro Mendoza Muquiz, director of the Matamoros Medical Faculty, stressed that given the need for reduction and practice required by this career, UAT medical schools should conduct certain clinical exercises in schools in small groups and measures specified by the Department of Health.
The academic noted that in terms of the most advanced careers, that is, internal graduate students and social services are doing this stage in clinics and hospitals, but not in the Covid areas, however, reaching out to patients. That’s why the rectory has helped them with a support team.
Mendoza Muzquiz added that although the classes of those who began their medical careers this semester were distance learning, there was no dropout, the number of students who regularly start careers at Matamoros University has remained the same for many years.
