LIVE: The royal family goes to Amersfoort desert

For more than a mile on foot, Piet Mondriaan's artist and the city councilor Johan van Oldenbarnevelt will present their third birthday and their embassy. Theater, music and stories are presented.

The former monastery of the Mariënhof, over 500 years old, goes on to Either at Kleine Haag. There, after the kings, a party begins with performances by artists such as Maan and Jan Smit.

Also known as Eleven Lieve Vrouwetoren ("Lange Jan"), the king and his family meet a hundred "beautiful women", who support others, such as volunteers or carers. Later on, freerunners, street soccer players, dancers and basketball players can watch and Holland Opera operates a short scene.

Willem-Alexander was 52 years old on Saturday. Amersfoort will last until 13:00.

The reporter Pieter Klein Beernink continues. Continue the updates below.
