The iconic Nike shoes provide a 3M turn

GLOBAL BRANDS Nike and 3M have recently teamed up to give the shoe icons another spin.

The shoe collaboration available in Southeast Asia shows the best 3M innovation applied to shoe icon franchises like Force, Air Max, React Vision and Blazer to add durability and design.

It’s a collaboration that began at last year’s Milan Design Week, where 3M presented an art installation The pinnacle of reflection, Which left Nike impressed.

“When Nike experienced our facility, they knew that 3M was a company that thinks differently,” Robert Quintero, 3M’s creative director of UX, said in a statement. “They appreciated our ability to express the 3M brand emotionally through storytelling.”

It happened as Nike Sportswear was able to find a line of shoes in the early stages.

After Milan Design Week, 3M executives invited members of the Nike design team to 3M’s headquarters. There they introduced the 3M brand, highlighting the hand-picked technologies used to protect end users. This means warmth, durability, visibility, breathability and so on.

The Nike team then took the samples to their Oregon headquarters and eventually decided to feature 3M Scotchlite Reflective Material throughout the sneaker collection to enhance the aesthetics of the shoes. Nike also used 3M Thinsulate Insulation to add an extra layer of warmth in part sneakers.

Both 3M technologies have a long history of being used by major clothing brands around the world.

“We are excited to partner with a brand like Nike and a respected team from around the world,” said Brian Rice, 3M brand and vice president of design. “The results of this partnership highlight the value of the design as a way to enhance the customer experience by revitalizing 3M technologies that are world-leading.”

Nike and 3M have said they hope the shoe collection will make a great impression in the Southeast Asian region as shoe culture continues to rise.
