Can I use a charger with my phone?

The world – the digital world

It’s worth noting that this year Apple has provided all phones (iPhone 12) without a charger, but you’ll find a cable in the phone case that works with USB-C power adapters and computer ports (from USB-C to Lightning).
And here an important question arises, can you connect to the charging phone to charge?

The short answer is yes, as most phones now have a USB-C port for wired charging and support the same standards for wireless charging, but the long answer carries a little more explanation.

How are chargers classified?

The main factor that all chargers have in common is watts (or charging capacity), which is the power that the charger can provide to the phone’s battery at the same time. Tablets and laptops tend to have high-power chargers because they have larger batteries.

The charging speed of the phone depends on the number of watts provided by the charger and the maximum power required to charge the phone, so the charger included in the phone case always gives you the best charging performance.

If your phone does not come with a charger or the charger is lost or damaged, you will need to search the network for both charger and phone charging data before you can purchase a suitable replacement, for example: the new iPhone 12 can take up to 20 watts. .

So if you buy a 20-watt charger from Apple, the charging speed of your new iPhone 12 will increase four times faster than the old official 5-watt charger. Of course, the old charger can charge the iPhone 12, but the problem you will have is a very slow charging rate.

This also applies to laptop ports, for example: the latest devices (MacBook Pro) can draw 10 watts of power (USB-C) from the ports, so you can use the cable (Lightning to USB-C) to charge your phone through the computer port. This means that you get twice the charging speed that a 5W charger offers, but it’s faster than half the 20W charger, assuming your phone needs 20W of charging capacity.

If you want to charge your phone battery as quickly as possible, you need a charger that offers the same charging capacity as your phone requires, which is the same as most of the times when you find the charger that comes with your phone.

When it comes to fast charging, it’s a technology that phone manufacturers adopt in different ways, and you won’t usually find the same standards between brands. For example: OnePlus 8T supports a fast charge of 65 watts.

As with wired charging, for best fast charging results, you need a charger and a phone to have the same charging capacity. This means you can’t connect (OnePlus 8T) to any charger and wait for 100% to charge the battery in 39 minutes. OnePlus says it is necessary to use a charger that offers the same capacity.

Although the wireless charger is a little different, you will see that the charging capacity is measured in watts, but wireless chargers are slower than wired versions. Most modern phones have the same wireless charging standard (Qi). So you can use any wireless charger with your phone if your phone and charger support the same standard.

What chargers can you use with your phone?

While using a suitable cable or wireless standard, you can use any charger with your phone, as modern phones will regulate battery power consumption, so there is no risk of damaging your phone by using a charger with a slightly lower or higher charging capacity.

However, you should be careful when using cheap unbranded chargers or old chargers that have been around for years, as they may not meet the same safety standards offered by modern chargers.

Cheap chargers and cables can be a threat to your life.Researchers say cheap chargers without a well-known brand can cause serious blows or burns. Because they don’t meet standards and quality testing compared to members made by well-known brands. ”

So to protect yourself and extend the battery life of your device, make sure you use a new charger from a well-known phone manufacturer or other component manufacturer, even if it is slightly more expensive than others.

Bottom line:

At this time, any new charger will work with new phones, but you won’t get the fastest charging speed or the most efficient charging rate if you don’t use a charger made by the phone company itself. And when it comes to fast charging, you should use a charger specifically designed for your phone.

The same goes for wireless charging, so any charger can be used with any phone if they support the same standard wireless charging, but the charging speed may change from one charger to another.

The only exception here; Specially designed new charging device (MagSafe) is used on new iPhone 12 phones, it relies on a strong magnetic connection to secure the phone to the charging base, so it is not recommended (MagSafe) to use new chargers with other phones other than iPhone 12.

It is noteworthy that Apple itself has warned to place credit cards, hotel key cards, transport cards or passports between an iPhone and a MagSafe charger, as these things can damage magnetic strips or RFID chips.

Chargers may also leave circular marks on the outer covers that you use to protect your phone, leaving the same circular marks on the back of the glass phone if you do not use the case.
