U.S. President-elect Joe Biden has announced that he wants to create 3 million “well-paid” jobs, mostly thanks to technology, electric cars and green energy. In the face of new cuts that sought to prevent the resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic, he believed the economy should be given “immediate support”.
“Our goal is to create millions of paid jobs in manufacturing, cars, products, technology to build what we need in the future to be competitive with the rest of the world (…) We will buy American,” he said at a conference on the economy in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware. He reaffirmed that large companies and the wealthiest Americans would pay the “right portion” of taxes, and that he intended to set a minimum wage of $ 15 an hour.
Joe Biden has warned of the dangers of the additional deaths of Covid-19 if Donald Trump and his government refuse to coordinate with a Democratic group called to ensure the transition to the White House. Without consultation between the two groups following the U.S. executive, “it is likely that more people will be killed,” Mr. Biden warned, citing the urgent need to prepare for the distribution of vaccines as soon as possible.
