The incident happened on an evening in October last year, when a group of young people gathered in the barn. A 16-year-old man had a fireworks rocket and threw it into the barn. Some time later, some young people found out that the barn had started to burn and contacted 112.
The rescue service came out but was unable to save the barn, which is estimated to be worth SEK 1.6 million. The 16-year-old was accused of serious negligence and his friend for encouraging and helping the 16-year-old to light the rocket.
The Växjö District Court believes in the 16-year-old, who said he did not think he could start burning the tin barn, and has therefore been convicted of causing fire for negligence. His friend is completely free.
