The competition's finalists have announced the best cars in Europe. The short list of seven nominee awards has exceeded a single electric vehicle.
The organizers of the "Cars of the Year" series published a list of nominees for the 2019 award. There are seven models and 60 applicants have been selected by 38 applicants. The winner of the contest will be announced on March 4, 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show.
The contest organizers have the following requirements to name cars: they must be a new model, at least five European countries must be available in the button. The jury chooses the finalists by means of simple votes. In 2019, Alpino A110, Citroen C5 Aircross, Ford Focus, Jaguar I-Pace, Kia Ceed, Mercedes-Benz A-class and Peugeot 508 are the European auto-title title.
Among the candidates for the finalists list include Aston Martin Vantage, Audi Q8, BMW 3 series, BMW X5, Honda CR-V, Lamborghini Urus, Mercedes-Benz G-class, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Seat Tarraco and Volkswagen Touareg and Volvo V60.
This year, the best European car was recognized by Volvo XC40. The Swedish brand received the award for the first time. In 2017 Peugeot 3008 became. In 2016 and 2015 – Opel Astra and Volkswagen Passat, respectively.
