Tim Stewart, Microsoft CFO, provided information on the availability of new consoles at a conference at Jefferies Interactive Entertainment (full transcript).
The chief executive admitted that due to the very high level of demand, in many markets Xbox Series X | S consoles were in great shortage. On behalf of the company, the deputy director apologized for the unpleasant situation, assuring Microsoft that it is doing everything it can to solve the problem of limited console availability. But demand far exceeds supply, and the company expects the Xbox Series X | The problem of S shortage will only be solved by the end of the first quarter of 2021. In other words, until April-May, new Microsoft consoles will not appear on store shelves in sufficient quantities.
As of November 10, 2020, the Xbox Series S and Series X consoles are available worldwide (in Ukraine, alas, the Xbox is not yet officially sold). Earlier, Microsoft said the launch of the new consoles is the largest in history (exact numbers have not yet been released), and clarified that most orders have fallen into the S Series junior model.
