How many children have American autism? The United States government responds to at least three ways, and the final estimate: 1 year 40 children – does not necessarily mean that numbers are rising.
The new issue, published on Monday in Pediatrics, is among three-periodic surveys, which is used to assess the rates of autism rates. It is higher than the estimates of the surveys published for the first time this year, but the surveys use different methods and have measured different children's populations when the results are not very comparable.
There is no medical examination, "the disorder of the autistic spectrum is a particular challenge," the government's researchers wrote in the Pediatric report.
The real occurrence of autism is likely to be from 1 to 59 years old, from 1 to 40 years, according to researchers, taking into account the three surveys.
"It provides complete information for all to complete the whole image," said Michael Kogan, United States Department of Health and Resource Services, author of a new report by a federal agency.
Multi-year reports suggest that autism rates are rising. Experts believe that, above all, a prior diagnosis, broader definition and more awareness, but they can say the real growth caused by strangers.
Here are three surveys:
– The last estimate is based on responses to 43,000 parents aged between 3 and 17. If they have diagnosed children diagnosed with the autistic spectrum disorder, it is a formal name that extends over time to severe cases. The 2016 survey was based on the Internet; Earlier telephone surveys were a bit higher, but researchers said the results were not comparable,
At national level, according to surveys, 1.5 million children have autism, 2.5% or 1 40.
– The Center for Disease Control and Prevention collects statistical information on people's conversations. In 2016, parents of children between 3 and 17 were also asked about diagnosis of autism and slightly higher than in previous years, but in estimation 40 1.
– CDC also uses a 11-nation monitoring system. It is based on health and school registers, children who follow autistic criteria, aimed at young people of 8 years, most of whom are diagnosed by age. The report released in April on the network has shown that 59 children have 59 autism, although in some places it is much larger. The budget is the most rigorous, but not internationally representative.
Autism speaks, the awareness group is among the organizations that use the estimation of the CDC network. They are more conservative and potentially more accurate than parenting reports, said neuroscientist Dean Hartley, CEO of the group,
Autism is a developmental disorder that can be able to reduce language and social problems, often including repetitive behavior.
Experts say that the affected children have done better with early diagnosis and treatment, but some doctors may discard early signs and some parents may not know the symptoms of autism, said Dr. Stuart Shapira.
Pediatric surveys revealed that a third of children with autism reported by parents did not receive treatment and that many parents had trouble finding services to their children by informing earlier studies.
Shapira has stated that the free agency Milestone Tracker phone app is supporting parents' development delays.
