Final between Boca and River will be played outside of Argentina

Assumption.- Conmebol determined on Tuesday that the Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors will be played outside of Argentina after serious incidents of violence recorded the weekend before the return match.

The match between the staunch Argentine rivals would take place between December 8 and 9 at a location to be defined soon, but is subject to a ruling of the disciplinary commission of the governing body of South American football.

The Conmebol opened a disciplinary file against River for the attack suffered by the players of Boca on Saturday at his arrival at the stadium of his rival.

The bus that moved to the Boca campus was white with stones and other projectiles by a group of fans of River, just a few blocks from the Monumental stadium. Boquean captain and steering wheel Pablo Pérez suffered cuts in the arms and an ocular lesion.

Boca asked for the disqualification of River and that he was proclaimed champion.

“ The game will be played, if it is played, because it is subject to disciplinary failure, outside the Argentine territory, "conmebol Alejandro Domínguez president told reporters." There are no conditions for playing in Argentina " `.

Dominguez spoke after a meeting with the presidents of Boca and River at the headquarters of the Conmebol, located on the outskirts of Asunción.

Both Daniel Angelici, president of Boca, and Rodolfo D'Onofrio, the owner of River, did not give statements after the meeting.

“ Soccer is not violence. It is resolved with goals, "said Dominguez, who did not accept questions.

Following the wounds suffered by several Boca players, Conmebol had to postpone the definition.

It has been mentioned that stadiums in Paraguay, Brazil and Italy could be the venue for the return match. Boca and River drew 2-2 in the first leg two weeks ago, and that it was postponed one day but due to a rain storm that affected the Bombonera field of play.

In his statement, the Conmebol said that “ will be responsible for travel, lodging, food and domestic transportation costs of up to 40 people per delegation and establish security coordinations with the corresponding authorities“.
