Cono Gumina, president of the Sociedad Anticancerosa de Venezuela (SAV), said that Venezuela and Cuba are the only countries where there is no vaccine to fight the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).

Gumina said that cancer death rates in the country have increased and projections for the year 2030 are alarming.

"In the year 2018 we have more than 26,000 cases of deaths from cancer. Numbers have shown that deaths occur more in men due to prostate cancer than in women due to breast cancer, but it is a minimal difference, "Gumina said in an interview in Televen

The president of the SAV indicated that cases of uterine cancer have increased in young people who initiate sex at a young age. "We have seen cases of cervical cancer in young people aged 14, 15 and 17, and that is alarming," he said.

Gumania explained that the Anti-Police Company have several projects and prevention programs, including mobile units and private alliances. "Before we had no way of dealing with the cases, however, we have established private clinic alliances, but the problem is in getting the treatments. Our goal is to get to operate 100 cases for breast cancer and then another 100 cases for prostate cancer. "
